Following the Business Continuity Plan guidelines from the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam, Chung Ching Middle School will start online teaching on the 30th March, 2020 in the case of Primary and Secondary sections, and from 1st April, 2020 in the case of kindergarten section.
Online teaching by Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten teachers will record videos of lessons and send them to parents by WhatsApp or email. Parents can show these videos to the children when they are free. The teachers will also inform parents if there is any written work is to be done and will send it to the parents. Parents can do a printout and let their children do the work on the printout. The completed work can be sent as a photo through WhatsApp to the teacher. Parents who do not have these facilities can come to school between 8 am and 11.30 am and collect the work
from the supervisor.
Online teaching by Primary Section
Online teaching in the Primary Section will be done through the ‘edmodo’ app. All parents are requested to download the app and register at www.edmodo.com either on laptop or smart phone. Lessons for each day will be uploaded as videos, PowerPoint or assignments according to the school timetable. Parents can download these whenever they are free and let the children learn from them. After students complete an assignment, it can either be scanned or typed into Microsoft Word and sent to the email address provided by the school. When assignments are received, they will be marked by the subject teachers.
Online teaching by the Secondary Section
Lessons for secondary students will take place during school time, according to the school timetable. This means that lessons will start at 7:15 am and end at 12:25 pm. There will be afternoon classes also for upper secondary students from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Teachers will be using ZOOM, Google Classroom or Discord for their teaching. Each student should have access to either a laptop or smart phone. Students who do not have access to laptop or smart phone or do not have internet connectivity at home can collect a home learning pack in the afternoon on each day from the school. Attendance will be taken during online teaching. Attendance will not be given if a student fails to attend an online lesson or does not collect and submit the home learning pack after completing it. However, if a student is sick or if there is any problem with accessing online lessons, attendance will still be given.
To adhere to the social distancing policy, school fees should be paid online. After payment, a photo of the receipt should be sent to the class teacher. The class teacher will issue the school receipt, take a photo of it and send it back to the parent. The school account number will be informed to the parents by the class teachers.
We request wholehearted cooperation from parents and guardians as we embark on this challenging program. There will be teething problems, since this is a completely new way of teaching and learning for us. However, we are sure that with your support, we can overcome these challenges for the sake of the future of our children. Once again, we thank you sincerely for your support and cooperation. If any further clarification is needed, please feel free to contact the school.
